# MCP tools

Orchestor MCP tools let your agent investigate workspace data and turn findings into actions. Describe the brand, date range, and task so the agent can select tools and provide their arguments.

## Sign in and grant workspace access

1. [Connect your client](https://orchestor.io/docs/en/mcp/clients.md) to `https://mcp.orchestor.io/mcp`.
2. Complete OAuth in your browser and select the workspace.
3. Choose **Read-only** for analysis, or the required write access for changes.

Registering the server URL does not complete authorization. Ask your agent to list brands to verify access. If results are missing, check the authorized workspace and filters. An empty list alone does not mean authentication failed.

For example, ask: “Compare the selected brand’s visibility over the last seven days with the previous seven days, then inspect the supporting AI answers.” The agent can combine multiple tools.

## Discovery, preview, and writes

This directory covers the hosted `core` tools. Available tools depend on the connection's permissions and server configuration; check `tools/list` for the current session.

Use `search_tools` → `get_tool_schema` → `execute_tool` to find and run additional read-only tools. Write and preview operations are excluded from this discovery path.

`prompts_create` previews validation without saving a prompt. `create_issue` saves an issue and requires write access. Check the operation and target before requesting a change.
